Oceana Naval Air Station
Visit a Jet Base
You can get a up close look at one of four of the Navy’s Master jet bases by touring the Naval Air Station Oceana. An active military base it offers views of several parts of the station to civilians.
The Aviation Historical Park is just inside the Main Gate. It is open every day for military, DOD employees or those taking the base tour. Inside the park there are 13 airplanes on display for you to enjoy. Anyone who enjoys military history and airplanes will enjoy this tour.
Schedule a Tour
Although you have to take a scheduled tour, it is well worth it. You will be able to see over two hundred aircrafts including F-14 Tomcats and F-18 Hornets. This is the perfect opportunity to see some heavy duty aircraft up close. If you choose the 11:30 am tour it includes a stop at the Oceana Officers Club for lunch. ($4 - $6 fee for the buffet).
POW Memorial
There is also an observation park, where the family can watch the planes taking off and landing on the runways. It is located on Ocean Boulevard. The POW/MIA Memorial is in the observation park as well, a tribute to those taken or missing in battle.
