MacArthur Memorial
A Look at Military History
The MacArthur Memorial Museum offers an in-depth look into the life of one of the most interesting men in history. If you love military history or simply like learning about those who played a major role in our nation you will thoroughly enjoy a visit to this museum.
Although not located directly in Virginia Beach the Memorial is within easy driving distance and worth scheduling into your sightseeing agenda. Not only does it house a very extensive collection of military memorabilia but the rotunda in the center is the gravesite of General MacArthur.
See the Man Up Close
As you stroll through the exhibits you will find yourself looking into the past. The twentieth century during war is brought to life through the military and personal artifacts. You can see the General’s personal items like his corn cob pipe and medals. Papers and communications that he received from Japan are also on display. A short film on the life of the general is one of the highlights.
Interesting Exhibits & Shops
Along with several permanent exhibits and two changing exhibits you will find a theater, gift shop, and archives. From World War I through the Korean War the men and women who served tell their story and are honored here.
This is one of those trips that is best enjoyed by adults and older children but well worth your time. Your family will immensely enjoy this look into the past.
